Sacha Glastra van Loon (1987) was born and raised in Amsterdam. Photography is a skill he learned at an early age. After High school he studied International Business & Management Studies and Social Geography for a couple of years, while working in several part-time jobs. In November 2014, he obtained his BA in Cinematography from the MET Film School of the University of West London, after a 2-year full-time study.
In 2015 he has worked on a number of film projects as a free-lance
Cinematographer, Camera operator, Camera assistant, Focus-puller and Gaffer. Furthermore he has been involved in several feature films, short films, music videos, corporate films and commercials.
In 2015 he worked as a 2nd AC and as a Lighting Assistant on a Dutch TV-series called 'Trollie' and also on a Feature Film called 'Riphagen' with Bert Pot, NSC.
Since then he has been working as a freelance cinematographer, gaffer and focus puller in the Dutch film industry, but also internationally. His focus lies on becoming a great cinematographer or DoP and in his vision working as a gaffer/lighting technician has helped him becoming much better in creating moving images.
Next to this he has found a love for teaching younger kids the art of cinematography and showing them how to tell a story with the medium of film.
He is familiar with Adobe Première Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop and Da Vinci Resolve and has experience with the following Film camera's: Arri Alexa/Mini/Amira, Arri SR3 -16 mm, digital Canon cameras, Red Epic/Gemini, Panasonic EVA1/Varicam and the Sony FS7/F3/F55.
Sacha is bi-lingual in Dutch and English and can also communicate in both German and Spanish. He is an excellent driver with a clean driving record, with experience as a courier, working for Car-hire company and as a traveller on different continents. He has travelled throughout Europe, Southern Africa, South East Asia and Central/South America where he shot a comprehensive series of photographs in Colombia and Panama.
